Healing Trauma with David Kaminker

Service Description
The Brain: Healing Trauma In this 4-day class we will explore the dynamics of the brain in our physical, emotional and spiritual health. We will learn approaches to healing trauma, and facilitating optimal brain health for an enhanced experience of life. The class is a synthesis of the work of various pioneers in the profession including Hugh Milne, Benjamin Shield, Steve Schumacher and John-Pierre Barral. We will practice both visionary and biodynamic models of craniosacral work as we develop skills in palpating the brain's motility within the cranial cavity, practice differentiating cranial structures, and learn very gentle interventions that support healing. Referencing the work of Peter Levine, Bessel Van der Kolk, Candace Pert, Stanley Kelleman, Iain McGilchrist and Larence Heller, along with other leaders in this exciting field, we will look at the effects of complex and developmental trauma, shock trauma, as well as physical trauma, and traumatic brain injury. While we will devote a healthy portion of the class to the study of brain anatomy, each day students will be guided through hands-on practice sessions with one another, to gain an experiential understanding of the techniques, so that the teaching of the architecture and functioning of the brain can be utilized in their work with their clients. We celebrate that the brain is alive and part of the field of the human spirit. This energy field has its own intelligence and responsiveness, separate from neuronal cognition, which deeply appreciates conscious, careful touch, which can be a life changing gift. *32 CEUs - NCBTMB approved
